Message from Our Head Boy 2012

Hello,

I’m Liam O’Donoghue, the Head Boy for 2012. During my time at St Paul’s I have experienced a wide range of the opportunities that this school offers, from rowing to the excellent teaching that we have all become accustomed to. All these things have changed me as a person, and no doubt this year will continue that transformation.

I have lived in Hamilton all my life, with just one younger sister who is currently year ten at Waikato Dio and really enjoying it.

I started school at St Columbus where I stayed for two years before moving to Southwell School. Here I made many friendships that I maintain today, and am very grateful for the high quality of education that I have received throughout my entire schooling.

This year I am taking History, Maths with Statistics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics, with the intention of studying Health Science at Auckland University next year. This has always been my dream, and I am thankful for the support that I have had from so many people in pursuing this.

Outside of the classroom I have played the piano since I was 4 years old, and the guitar since I was in year 9. However my main interest is hockey, which has been a big part of my life. I have played for the St Paul's Collegiate School1st XI Hockey Team for the last two years, a Waikato University club team and Waikato representative sides.

This year will no doubt have its challenges, but I am positive that with Lizzy, Jonty, Brenna, and all the other prefects, that we will have an enjoyable and very successful year.

Message from our Head Girl 2012

Hello there, my name is Elizabeth Rajan, but I am generally known as Lizzy.

I have been brought up on a lifestyle block, out of Hamilton but not quite in Gordonton. My Dad is Indian and was born in India which explains my appearance, however I have been raised as a Kiwi. I am the middle child of 3, getting along with my older sister a bit more than my younger brother, nonetheless I feel I am very blessed having a family like mine. I have a part time job at a kennel, a job I have been dreaming about since I can remember, and I love working there.
I enjoy all sports, but most of all Hockey, and for the past 2 years have played in the St Paul's Collegiate Girls 1st XI Hockey Team.
The subjects I am taking this year are Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Sports Science, Statistics and Modelling, obviously a wide range of subjects, and this is because I am still unsure of what direction I am heading to for the future.
I began my schooling at the small country school down the road, Puketaha School, but by moving to Fairfield Intermediate for year 7 and 8, I became prepared for my chosen high school, Fairfield College.
I absolutely adored this school, but after 2 years my parents made the hard decision to send me to St Paul's, a decision which has positively changed my life.
So it was 2010, in year 11, when I began my adventure, and now, two years later I am very honoured to have been chosen to be the Head Girl of St Paul's Collegiate for 2012.
I know that this will be the most difficult year of my school life so far, having to juggle school work, prefect duties, a part time job, hockey and my Head Girl responsibilities, as well as maintaining the wide variety of friendships I have collected over the past 5 years. I am nervous but excited to take everything on, and I can't wait to work alongside Liam, Brenna and Jonty this year.
