Hockey at St Paul's
The primary objective of the St Paul’s Hockey Programme is to develop in each participant, the fundamental skills that are required to be a top hockey player. To support this objective the School aims to engage high quality coaching staff throughout all grades of hockey at St Paul’s Collegiate and provide world class facilities in which the coaching can take place.
The Hockey Programme at St Paul’s Collegiate has produced very good results in the past. St Paul’s finished 4th at India Shield in 2012 which qualifies them for Ranking Cup in 2013.
St Paul’s Collegiate School Hockey Philosophy
“Big enough to compete, small enough to offer individual attention.”
Why St Paul’s Collegiate?
Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or performing in the cultural arena, St Paul’s Collegiate School has a long history of working with small numbers of students supported by highly competent staff and coaches. This strategy ensures each student receives personalised tuition and training. In addition, St Paul’s provides elite sports facilities and resources to compliment its coaching programmes.
In this environment, all students enrolled in the St Paul’s Collegiate Hockey Programme are provided with a unique opportunity to achieve to their potential. Irrespective of age or ability, each student receives a level of individualised coaching and training that is not possible in programmes with large numbers of participants. By developing the skills of all members of the St Paul’s Collegiate Hockey Programme, St Paul’s teams are competitive against larger, established hockey programmes in other schools.
Craigs St Paul's Hockey Centre
The School has an on site water turf, built to international standards, that was opened in 2007. This enables players to participate in extra high performance trainings, whether they are early morning, lunch-time or after school.
Craigs Investment Partners made a significant contribution towards enabling the realisation of such a high class turf and St Paul's is grateful for their support.

St Paul’s 1st XI
St Paul’s 1st XI has a proud tradition of producing quality hockey teams. With experienced coaching and structured training sessions, the 1st XI has always competed well against larger schools.
The 1st XI trains several times a week. In 2012 several school fixtures are scheduled during terms one, two and three. The final build up is completed with a quad tournament where we host three nationally ranked hockey schools
Development
The Under 15 team is the group that is targeted for the future development of the St Paul’s Collegiate Hockey Program. Consequently, these boys receive top level coaching, exposure to advanced modern hockey concepts, and experience with GameBreaker and other hockey technologies. The U15 Tanner Cup was introduced in 2011 and was a huge success with some of the top U15 school teams from around the country competing. This year the competition will be expanded to 12 teams which will definitely make for a quality tournament. Our 1st XI also hosts two quadrangular tournaments in term 3 which help in the build-up to national tournament. In term two and three Year 9 and 10 students are offered quality one on one sessions with our top coaches through our Xcellerator program. During this time they focus on skills that relate directly to their position of play.
