Student Visa

Obtainining a student visa

Once you have received your St Paul’s Collegiate School offer of place and have paid your tuition fees you will need to apply for a New Zealand Student Visa.

You can find out more by visiting the NZ Immigration Service web site at: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/study. When submitting your student visa application to your nearest office of the NZ Immigration Service you will need to provide:

  1. Completed Application Form. The application form to Study in New Zealand is available from New Zealand Embassies or High Commissions.
  2. Passport. Check to make sure it’s not going to expire while you are in New Zealand.
  3. Application Fee. The fee varies between countries, please check with the New Zealand Immigration Service.
  4. Guarantee of Accommodation. This is a letter stating that accommodation is available to you while you are studying at St Paul’s.  This letter may be from a relative or friend living in Hamilton; from your home stay family; or it may be from the Director of International Students at St Paul’s stating that you have accommodation in one of the boarding houses.
  5. Evidence of Sufficient Funds. Evidence that you or a sponsor (this is often a family member) have at least NZ $7000 per year to support you while you are living in Hamilton.  You should provide either your personal bank statement – showing you have the money, passbook or travellers cheques, or a statement from your sponsor stating the money is available.
  6. Evidence of Onward travel Arrangements. You must have a ticket to leave New Zealand or provide evidence that you have extra funds available to pay for a ticket.

This information is a general guide only, the NZ Immigration Service requirements may vary between students and countries and may change from time to time.

Don’t forget to take with you to the New Zealand Immigration Service:
