Netball Success for Alana Timms
Alana Timms (Year 13) has been selected for the Waikato region, Lois Muir Netball team, (i.e. the development squad for the Waikato Magic netball team), which is an open age group, with Alana being the youngest player and only secondary school student chosen. These girls are the best in their province and are selected from the top teams in the Waikato. To be selected, Alana was invited to a three-day trial with 24 other girls – she had to endure one-day of fitness and two-days playing netball – from this 13 girls were selected for the squad.
The coaches were impressed with Alana’s ability and as this is a level of netball she has never been exposed to, and the competition that starts on 20 March 2010 is seen as the “feeder” competition to the ANZ champs, it is likely she has a future in netball!
Alana’s first tournament with this team is on Saturday, 27th February against Samoa – we wish her every success.
