Netball
Netball at St Paul's
As the number of girls at St Paul’s is around 120, we are fortunate that one quarter of all girls participate in Netball.
St Paul’s Collegiate offers 3 grades of competition which caters for all skill levels for aspiring netballers.
All teams are ably coached by teachers or appointed coaches, as is the case with the Open A team.
The school gymnasium is utilised throughout the winter months and is a key facility for the Open A. The sprung floor and access to gym equipment and the heated swimming pool offer first class facilities for the school’s competitive netballers. The same facilities are regularly used by Waikato and Silver Fern representatives and from time to time such players share their time and skills with our school netballers.
Open A Team
The Open A Team, the competitive flagship team for the school competes in the open grade at Hamilton City Netball Centre on Saturday’s. Several top performing secondary school teams take part in these open grades along with competitive women’s teams.
This team also competes in the Waikato Secondary Schools Monday night league to enhance their games.
St Paul’s Open A players have represented Hamilton City in age group teams and also earned selection in Netball New Zealand’s regional talent identification groups.

Developement Team
Like the Open A, the Development team also plays in the Saturday competition but as a collegiate team against a mixture of women’s college teams. This team practices and plays with the same enthusiasm and pride as the Open A.
Senior A Team
The Senior A team caters for the less experienced players. Trainings and practices are still important but the enjoyment factor and contact time with peers is more of a focus for this team.
