Debating
DEBATING
Debating has had a long history at St Paul’s Collegiate School. We are excited to have the largest group of debaters ever this year, including an enthusiastic group of junior boys.
The senior inter school competition will be hotly contested and we are in with a good chance of victory with an experienced team of Year 13s. This year will see us enter the junior inter school competition, for the first time, with a confident team of Year 9 and 10s.
The Russell McVeagh competition is scheduled for a weekend in May and this is the competition from which the regional team is selected. Last year two of our senior debaters were selected for the four person team to go to Wellington and debate in parliament buildings with the chance of being selected for the national team.
The Rotary Cup is to be held on May 3rd 2010 and we have our sights set on bringing home the cup from Waikato Diocesan. This debate is hosted, chaired and adjudicated by the Fairfield Rotary Club and is always a pleasant evening for our young teams.
