Debating
DEBATING
Debating has had a long history at St Paul’s Collegiate School and there is always an enthusiastic group of debaters each year, including junior boys.
The annual senior inter school competition is hotly contested and St Paul's enjoys the opportunity to debate, especially at the senior school level senior.
The Russell McVeagh competition is scheduled each May and this is the competition from which the regional team is selected. In the past a number of our senior debaters have been selected for the four person team to go to Wellington and debate in parliament buildings with the chance of being selected for the national team.
The Rotary Cup is to be held annually with a debate against Waikato Diocesan. This debate is hosted, chaired and adjudicated by the Fairfield Rotary Club and is always a pleasant evening for our young teams.
