House Prayer

Almighty Father

We ask your blessing
upon all whom you have joined together
in the brotherhood of this House.
Help us to give to it our best
and to receive in turn the best it has to give.
Teach us to know the joys of attempting and achieving
and the demands of truth.
Give us the determination
never to be content with less than our best.
Open for us new windows on our world and
increase our understanding of ourselves and others.
This we ask through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Amen

House Haka

Sargood Haka

Sargood is the only House at St Paul's with its own haka. Te Whare Whero, Te Whare Toa was composed in 2007 as a gift to the staff and boarders of Sargood House. The haka was composed by Muna Wharawhara, of Ngati Haua descent.

Te Whare Whero, Te Whare Toa pays homage to Sir Percy Sargood, who as benefactor is a key figure for Sargood boarders past, present and future. The haka acknowledges the values, strengths and spirit of Sargood House, uplifted and carried by those who have the privilege of being a member of it. More importantly, the haka awakens the spirit within the boys to be steadfast in following their dreams and life goals without compromising the important values learned during their time in the House.

The Red House, The Warrior House
I look to the horizon
Behold a legion of warriors approaches
The horizon shimmers with their strength
Brothers of Sargood House
We are warriors of
Unity and persistence
Unbreakable bonds
The power of one
I will never be lost
Here am I
Advancing forward
Here am I
Advancing upward
Reaching my full potential in life
My prestige is not new
It is of olden days, from students of past times
