Cross Country

Cross Country Report - May 2012

The school cross country was run in wet but warm conditions in Week Three of term two and the standard of competition was high at the front of the fields. The heavy downpour of overnight rain and the constant light drizzle during racing made the course slippery but many students seemed to enjoy this extra challenge. It was encouraging to see the level participation in the junior and intermediate age groups in particular and with the positive attitude the majority of the runners displayed in all age groups.

There were no surprises in the winners of each of the races with Scott Hilliar and Katelyn Matthew particularly impressive with their comfortable victories in the senior boys and girls races. Hamish Black added the intermediate boys title to the junior title he won last year. Jack Davies ran a strong second half of the junior boys race to pull away from the competition to earn his victory.

The House Cup that is awarded from this event is based on the top 30 placings in all age groups and this year was easily won by Williams House.
