Assistant Coach
Lauren is currently studying at Waikato University and working towards a teaching degree. She previously studied Sports and Exercise Science and has a level four diploma. Lauren has worked her way up to a Skills A coach and has also passed courses working with swimmers with disabilities and has a current life guard qualification.She has been coaching for eight years and swimming competitively for fifteen years and swam at a national level. Lauren also works for Sports Force running clinics for country clubs, teaching swimmers and coaches. Lauren coaches Junior Development, Junior Potential, Waikato Development and Youth Development for St Paul's Swimming Club.
Junior Coaching - Gold
Luke is in his second year of a Sports and Exercise Science degree. In his spare time he is a personal trainer and also has his lifeguard qualification. Luke is an ex competitive swimmer and has been coaching swimming for six years. He has attended many coaching courses and continues to update his coaching qualifications. Luke coaches Junior Coaching Gold.
Junior Coaching - Silver
Andrew is a former pupil and Prefect of St Paul’s Collegiate School. He is attending Waikato University studying Law and Business Management. Andrew has been swimming competitively for 13 years, and currently swimming in our Performance squad, he swims at a National and International level in open water. He was awarded a Hillary Scholarship by Waikato University, which he earned through his dedication to swimming and achieving results to a high standard. Andrew has been coaching swimming for four years and continues to update his qualifications, also holding a first aid qualification. He is currently coaching our Junior Coaching Silver.
Junior Coaching - Bronze
Evan is currently in his last year at St Paul’s Collegiate School and is the swim captain at St Paul’s Collegiate. He is planning to study medicine next year. Evan is a competitive swimmer, swimming at a national level and competing overseas at an International level in open water. He has been coaching for three years and is continuing to update his qualifications as a coach - also holding his first aid qualification. Evan is one of our junior coaching squad teachers.
Learn to Swim Teacher - Blue
Murray emigrated from South Africa just over two years ago. We were lucky enough to have Murray join our Performance squad as a swimmer and also take up the position as a coach. He is working towards a degree in Sports and Exercise Science. Murray coaches our Learn to Swim blue group; this is the last level of learn to swim, and an important step for the swimmers before moving into their first squad. The main focus is on correct technique. This is where Murray excels in his coaching. Murray has been coaching with us for two years and continues to update his coaching skills.
Learn to Swim Teacher - Red
Ariana is a senior swimmer who has been competing at a national level for a number of years and is currently working on a music video and working towards releasing an album. Ariana is an asset to our coaching staff as she specialises in the first level of the clubs Learn to Swim. This is a specialised area and requires someone who has the personality and skills to promote confidence and encourage younger children to come out of their comfort zone and try new things while enjoying their lessons.
Part time Coach
Mike is a senior swimmer who has represented New Zealand at Paralympics and competed at world champs where he has won multiple medals and currently holds a world record. Mike has coached with us for three years and his knowledge of knowing what it takes to get to the top makes him a good role model for swimmers in the club.
Jade is a competitive swimmer who is swimming at a national level. Jade knows the pressures of being the top of her age group swimming from a young age. It is great to have Jade on staff as a back up to our permanent coaches.
Michael is a Prefect at St Paul’s Collegiate School. He was a competitive swimmer before turning to rowing; now he has returned to swimming on a recreational basis. Michael is an asset to our club as he is always on site to cover our coaching staff and fits in coaching at any level.
Amy is the most recent addition to our coaching team; she has had previous coaching experience and also has her life guard qualification. Amy has worked in early child care; this has helped her understanding of working with younger children in our Learn to Swim.
