Tennis at St Paul’s
Tennis is a popular summer sport at St Paul’s and the objective of the tennis programme is to develop the skills of both the elite players and those students who wish to simply play tennis socially.
To that end, St Paul’s provides tennis courts of international quality and coaches to meet the needs of the different ability groups.
The Tennis Programme
Junior players practice or play twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Seniors practice or play twice on Tuesdays and Thursday.
School teams play in the Waikato Schools’ Competition on Wednesdays. The School currently has two junior boys, two senior boys and one girls’ team which play in this competition.
The top players in each age division also play in the Waikato Secondary Schools’ Competition played at the Waikato Tennis Centre.
The elite junior players work with the professional coach once a week during their scheduled Physical Education lessons.
