CANTANDO CHOIR - ANZAC Reflections for ANZAC Day.
Category: Social event
When: Sunday, 25 April 2010
Time: 2.30pm
Where: Chapel of Christ the King - St Paul's
This
concert has given us the opportunity to introduce exciting young Tenor, David Holmes, Old Collegian, St Paul’s Collegiate School, to Waikato audiences.
David, who has been studying Performance Voice under Judy Bellingham at
the University of Otago, will perform solos and also lead the sing-along of
popular wartime favourites - Songs that
Won the War as they are sometimes labeled.
Returning
for this year’s concert, by popular demand, is the Hamilton City Brass Ensemble
under the leadership of trumpeter Clive Burnell. In addition to playing the poignant Retreat and Last Post, Clive leads the group when they play a march and a
medley of swing music.
This
year, interspersed with the musical items, Merilyn Manley-Harris, a member of
Cantando, will read three of the fine poems written during the war years.
