▪ Duty Chef

Located in St Paul's Collegiate School Hamilton

St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s leading secondary day and boarding schools, situated in Hamilton and home to approximately 900 students.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Chef to join our Kitchen team. We operate a large, well-established food service, preparing up to 1,400 meals per day, along with catering for internal and external functions and events.

This is a hands-on role where you will prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner for our students and staff. On some shifts, you will be responsible for running the kitchen and leading a small team, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, a strong team player, and confident in motivating others in a busy environment.

One of the real benefits of this role is the work–life balance. Our busiest service is weekday lunch, Monday to Friday, meaning this is not your typical hospitality role with consistently late nights. Evening shifts do occur, but late nights are generally earlier finishes than standard hospo hours, allowing for more balance and routine.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, hold relevant formal qualifications (or equivalent experience), and be keen to continue developing both their cooking and kitchen administration skills.

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week), working during both term time and school holidays, when we host a range of onsite camps. Hours are worked across a seven-day roster and will include a mix of daytime, weekend and occasional evening shifts.

Applications will remain open until the position is filled.
