ASSOCIATE HEADMASTER - STUDENT WELLBEING

Located in St Paul's Collegiate School Hamilton

St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s premier independent day and boarding schools for Year 9-13 boys and Year 11-13 girls. With a growing roll of currently 800 students, our school offers a learning environment that fosters academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, character education, and traditional values.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, knowledgeable and strategic-focused person to join our Senior Leadership Team. Assuming responsibility for leading all student wellbeing strategy, policy, and initiatives for our school, the Associate Headmaster - Student Wellbeing will join the Associate Headmaster - School Operations, three Deputy Headmasters, the School’s Business Manager, and the School Chaplain as a key member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team.

The Associate Headmaster - Student Wellbeing will work in conjunction with our five day Housemasters to provide pastoral leadership and oversight of student behavioural management for our Day Students. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the daily management of EOTC policies and procedures, line-management of the Director of International, and will lead our continual child protection policy and procedure focus.

To succeed in this role, candidates will require an advanced understanding of secondary schools, a proven record of educational leadership, and possess a strong interest in student wellbeing initiatives.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role reports to and works closely with the Headmaster. Candidates will need to be a qualified and successful teacher in their subject field (there is approximately 6 hours of teaching each week) and be willing to commit to the co-curricular fabric of our school, as well as be available for the time commitments that a senior management role entails.

At St Paul’s our vision is turning possibilities into realities, and we are on a mission to prepare our students for life in the global environment. Alongside other key priorities, we want to be considered as New Zealand’s premier Boarding school, reflecting outstanding facilities, expert pastoral care, and diverse boarder engagement activities. We want staff who are committed to our school’s vision and mission and who will work with us in achieving our strategic goals.

With the School’s current Associate Headmaster finishing at the conclusion of 2022, this is a rare opportunity for a dedicated leader to join our team in a pivotal and influential role. A competitive remuneration package is on offer for the successful candidate and support with relocation to Hamilton (if required).

An application pack with more information about the role and our school can be obtained by contacting Kathryn Conaghan, Head of HR via email: work@stpauls.school.nz. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are expected to be held during 12 - 14 October 2022.
