YEAR 10 TEACHER - OUTDOOR INSTRUCTOR

Located in Tihoi Venture School

St Paul’s Collegiate is an independent Anglican secondary school based in Hamilton. Tihoi Venture School is our Year 10 residential outdoor campus situated on the western side of Lake Taupo where students from our main campus come for a two-term programme and are involved in community living, academic study and outdoor pursuits.

We are looking to appoint a permanent, full time Teacher of junior core subjects (English / Maths / Science or Social Science). Experience in Outdoor Education or similar field and NZOIA Level 1 qualification would be a distinct advantage.

While at Tihoi, students complete several tramps, a survival exercise, two solo exercises, flat and moving water kayaking, canoeing, sailing, rock climbing, high and low ropes course activities, caving, alpine and an expedition.

Tihoi has been in operation for over 40 years and is a well-established centre with passionate staff and purpose-built facilities. All staff live onsite (with their families) in provided accommodation and make a full commitment to the co-curricular and pastoral care of the students.

At St Paul’s our vision is turning possibilities into realities, and we are on a mission to prepare our students for life in the global environment. Alongside other key priorities, we want to be considered as New Zealand’s premier Boarding school, reflecting outstanding facilities, expert pastoral care, and diverse boarder engagement activities. We want staff who will commit to our vision and mission and who will work with us in achieving our strategic goals.

As a Teacher / Outdoor Instructor you would be welcomed into our close-knit onsite community and you’ll enjoy the benefits of living and working in such a picturesque environment. Included in your remuneration is a competitive salary (teacher salary scale + St Paul’s Allowance - $4,715 per annum), accommodation and utilities such as power, Wi-Fi and heating.
