St Paul’s Collegiate School enters 2026 with great confidence, following another year of outstanding academic achievement by senior students in their 2025 NCEA and Scholarship assessments.
The 2025 results reflect the high quality of teaching, mentorship and learning application at St Paul’s. At NCEA Level 2, students achieved a 97.2% pass rate. Impressively, 64% of the cohort gained their Level 2 qualification with endorsement (36% with Merit endorsement, and a striking 28% with Excellence endorsement). The notable 10% increase in Level 2 students gaining endorsements (from 54% in 2024 to 64% last year) provides clear evidence of the rigour and benefit all Year 11 students are receiving in being challenged and prepared for senior courses via the St Paul’s Diploma.
At Level 3, results were equally impressive. A 97.4% pass rate was supported by 33% L3 Merit endorsements and 21% L3 Excellence endorsements, reinforcing the School’s delivery of academic rigour as students prepare for tertiary study and their future pathways.
While less than half of the national cohort achieved University Entrance, the outcomes for St Paul’s students remained consistently high, with 84% of students gaining UE in 2025, reflecting courses that contain disciplinary depth and academic mentoring that prepares students for life beyond school.
However, our 2025 Scholarship results were the remarkable standout feature of last year’s academic outcomes. In 2025, St Paul’s students achieved an exceptional 55 New Zealand Scholarships, compared with 34 in 2024. This total reflects, by some way, the largest number of scholarships achieved by St Paul’s students in these incredibly difficult assessments that distinguish the very top academic scholars nationally. Among these results were multiple Outstanding Scholarships – awards achieved by approximately just 0.3% of students nationwide – placing St Paul’s scholars among an elite academic cohort.
These results continue the School’s strong upward trajectory over recent years and provide an exciting foundation for future success. Behind each result is a culture of high expectations, dedicated teaching staff, and students willing to commit to challenge, persistence and excellence.
As St Paul’s looks ahead, the achievements of 2025 serve not only as a measure of success, but as motivation – reinforcing a tradition of academic excellence that continues to define the school in 2026 and beyond.
