Mark Davis achieved top marks for ICAS Science Examinations

8 August 2013

During the July break Mark Davis was awarded top marks for the ICAS Science Examinations. This is the second time that Mark has been awarded the top marks in ICAS science, having been awarded the same accolade in Year 5. Mark will be awarded with a gold medal at the end of the year to commemorate his achievement.

The news came through while Mark was attending a two-day conference in Wellington (July 16 and 17) as part of his duties as Youth MP for Hamilton West. Mark was selected for the role by Hamilton West MP Tim Macindoe, who was also in Wellington for the conference helping Mark gain as much as possible from the experience.

Some of the sessions that Mark attended over the two days include a stirring pöwhiri in the Grand Hall; a formal welcome in the Legislative Council Chamber by the Governor-General, Sir Jerry Mateparae, and the Speaker, Rt. Hon. David Carter; a briefing on the key item of legislation; a special sitting of the Education and Science Select Committee; and a Caucus meeting in the Government Caucus Room.
