Students top ICAS Science exams

5 August 2016

St Paul’s Collegiate School students ranked as some of the best in New Zealand following the ICAS Science exams. Eleven students placed in the top 10% of the country with distinction while four students placed in the top 1% with high distinction.

St Paul’s entrants, who all achieved well above the national average across all year levels (9-13), competed against more than 10,000 students in New Zealand and the Pacific.

St Paul’s Head of Science Kelvin Hogg says the results were outstanding and back-up many other years of great outcomes from St Paul’s.

“Over the years St Paul’s students have achieved outstanding success in the ICAS exams. Our students have repeatedly been awarded the honour of top student in the country for which they received gold medals,” he said.

These students include Chang Zhai (2010, Year 12), Conor Robson (2011, Year 12), Chang Zhai (2011, Year 13) and Mark Davis (2013, Year 13).

The one hour multiple choice examination requires students to use their science knowledge, reasoning and interpreting skills to determine the answers to 45 resource-based questions.
