Colourful, family-friendly show

St Paul’s Collegiate School will be bringing a cast of colour to the Hamilton community this July.

A cast of 30 students will perform Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and director Nick Clothier says it will be a colourful and family friendly show.

The musical is about a boy blessed with prophetic dreams who is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt where he endures a series of adventures.

Mr Clothier said the uncomplicated story line has made it fun for actors to pick up, while they chose the performance because it is accessible for everyone and means families can bring young children along.

The cast includes many students who have taken part in the University of Waikato’s Accelerando programme under Dame Malvina Major, who has an extensive singing career on the international stage.

The show will be in the first week of July and tickets are now on sale through the school website: www.stpauls.school.nz/tickets.

Adults are $30 and students are $15. The show runs for from July 1-4 at Southwell School Performing Arts Centre.
