From Abu Dhabi to St Paul’s Heather Fox

Heather Fox holds a string of credentials from around the world along with international teaching experience from Abu Dhabi and the United Kingdom in music and the arts. She has chosen to continue her love of teaching and share her knowledge and expertise with students of St Paul’s.

Heather spent 16 years working at world-renowned private schools, most recently, Al Bateen Academy in Abu Dhabi, as the Deputy Head of Senior School and the Head of Music.

Originally employed as the Head of Music, Heather improved General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Music to 100% (grades 9-6) and was rated outstanding by Abu Dhabi Education Council. She successfully established the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum in the school with results soaring to 100% (grades 9-5) which was also rated outstanding.

After receiving a promotion to Deputy Head of Senior School, Heather took on several duties including designing and implementing curriculum, department reviews and management of staff and projects – all while maintaining her music teaching.

The biggest highlight in her teaching career was seeing one of her students achieve the Pearson GCSE Music ‘Highest Mark in the World’ for private schools while teaching at Al Bateen. Prior to Al Bateen Academy, Heather was employed as Head of Creative Arts at The British International School in Abu Dhabi. She led the subjects within the music, drama, and dance departments over a two-year period.

Heather’s education comes highly qualified holding a Bachelor of Music with Honours from The University of Hull in East Riding of Yorkshire, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education where she completed her Qualified Teacher Status and went on to further her credentials with The National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL).

Her professional development has been ongoing throughout her career, obtaining her NPQSL, IBDP Managing the Extended Essay CAT 3 and Penta Inspection Training Level 1 and 2 – just to name a few. Heather brings her extensive musical and arts background to St Paul’s through teaching music to Year 9, 10, 11 and 13 students.

Having always wanted to settle in New Zealand, Heather and her husband Jon were delighted when his job allowed the move. They have a two year old daughter Teddy and describe New Zealand as “perfect for their family”.
