Legally Blonde The Musical Cast Q&A – Professor Callahan

Legally Blonde The Musical Cast Q&A – Professor Callahan

1 April 2018

Name: Harry Forte
Year: 13
House: Clark

Which character do you play?
Professor Callahan.

In a sentence or two, sum up who your character is in the context of the story:
Callahan is the leading law professor at Harvard Law, and he runs a billion dollar law firm. He’s absolutely ruthless, some say he “baths in the blood of sheep”.

What do you like most about playing this character?
The fear and the power Callahan’s holds over the students is fun to play in to. He really doesn’t have good morals, and playing that aspect is surprisingly enjoyable.

Have there been any challenges taking on this role?
Callahan doesn’t really have a nice side to him and it can be challenging to relate to that. I think to play any character well you have to totally understand them, and have something you can connect over. With Callahan that means channelling negative aspects of my personality, which can be difficult.

Without giving away too much, what are you most excited for the audience to see?
The whole thing! The energy, the costumes, the music, it’s all going to be really good – I can’t wait for opening night.

Is this your first stage show/musical or have you performed before?
I have performed in St Paul’s musicals over the last two years in Oklahoma and Jekyll and Hyde, but music and performance is a big interest of mine and something I’m always looking to get involved with.

Have you ever received any awards or special achievements relating to acting/singing/performing?
Trinity College London grade 5 and 7 Speech and Drama with distinction.

If you could star in any other musical, what would it be?
Bonnie and Clyde.

Who do you look up to (as an actor/singer/performer)?
James Hill.

Do you have plans to continue with performing once you leave school?
I definitely plan to continue with performance, especially music which is something I plan to become more involved with over the coming years.

Is there anything additional you would like to share about your experience so far being involved in this year’s school production?
It’s so much fun working with such an awesome group of people, there is so much talent this year and it’s already been an incredible experience.

Legally Blonde The Musical hits the stage at Southwell School Performing Arts Centre July 1-5.
