The academic days are taught to the same standards and curriculum as if students were in a regular schooling environment at St Paul’s Collegiate School.
The small Tihoi environment allows for one-on-one attention in the classroom where students can extend themselves and work towards NCEA Level 1 credits, which are usually accumulated in Year 11.
Students study four core subjects, a language maintenance course and other subjects that are relevant to the 18-week outdoor experience:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Outdoor Education
- Cooking
- Health
- First Aid
There is no digital technology (mobile phones, iPods etc) allowed at Tihoi. The only exception to this rule is in the classroom where students are provided Chromebooks to complete their schoolwork.
