St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s leading secondary day and boarding schools with 750 day and boarding students.
We are seeking a non-residential Matron to join one of our boys’ boarding houses, which accommodates 90 boys ranging in age from 13 to 18 years. The House Matron plays an important role in providing care and guidance for the boarding boys.
Boarding has been an integral and dynamic part of St Paul’s since the school was established in 1959. With 330 boarding students living across four houses (three boys’ houses and one girls’ house), we offer a welcoming and supportive community.
Working a ‘split shift’ from 7.30am – 10.30am and 3.30pm – 5.30pm, the Matron acts as an adult listener, go-to person and supervisor. A busy and rewarding role, the Matron ensures the boarding house operates effectively, and that standards are maintained. Responsibilities include urgent repairs to uniform, monitoring boarders’ health, hygiene and cleanliness, sorting laundry, labelling clothes, driving students to medical appointments, and liaising with cleaning, laundry, maintenance, and health clinic staff and the Housemaster.
This hands-on role requires flexibility, strong time management and organisational skills, and good communication skills. As an adult presence and role model in the House, the Matron needs to develop strong relationships with the boys and provide support to other House staff.
There is a physical aspect to the role where some lifting and bending is necessary. Candidates require a full, clean NZ driver’s license.
This is a part-time position working Monday to Friday, 25 hours per week when boarders are onsite (approximately 40 weeks per year). You will be welcomed into our close-knit community and enjoy the benefits of working at a high profile school.
We are currently recruiting for a Sports Administrator and would consider applications from people interested in combining the roles into one full time – term time only position.
We are also looking for an administrator to help support our School Database manager for 10-15 hours per week, which could be added to this position for the successful applicant.
Applications close 9am, Friday 7 December 2018, and should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org (Please ensure you include your CV and the St Paul’s Application for Employment form.)
