Football - 1st XI

v St John's 1st XI

Date: Saturday, 23 May 2015
Result: Won
Score: 6-1

23rd of May saw the St Paul's 1st XI get fired up to play St Johns 1st XI, a team we previously lost to 3-0. During the warmup, coach and teammates amped each other up in order to get in for a tough game. The start of the game we observed a minute silence for St Pauls families who had lost loved ones in the past week. Our team wore black armbands to show respect for these families. Ten minutes into the first half, a brilliant chip from Matt Collier saw St Paul's open up the scoreboard and uplift spirits, another goal from Waikato Ball 10 minutes later made the St Paul's lads confidently go into the second half 2-0 up. 5 minutes in we scored again by Luke Goodwin to make the score 3-0 and get ahead of ourselves. A goalmouth scramble made the score 3-1 but this was as close to St Johns getting back in the game as they got. 3 more goals from Waikato Luke and Shane Reddy made the score 6-1 at full time. This was a great result special mention to Harry Porritt with his excellent keeping. Tom Goodwin
