Hockey - 1st XI Girls

v St Peter's 1st XI

Date: Wednesday, 29 July 2015
Venue: St Paul's Collegiate
Result: Won
Score: 3-2

Playing the last of our pool games in our intercity competition saw us keen to perform well and fix our top position in our pool. All went according to plan initially with the team playing controlled, structured hockey. We scored through Jade Henley-Smith, ably assisted by Emanae Ferguson, in the 8th minute. However we went off the boil for the second quarter and allowed St Peter’s back into the game. They were awarded a goal in the 28th minute. 1 all at half time. We settled into a better play pattern and were able to score through Maddy Tims in the 6th minute. Play continued with us generally having the upper hand. A converted PC saw St Peter’s again draw level on the scoreboard. Patient play saw us also convert a PC (through Maddy) about 10 minutes from the end of play and it was a lead we were able to defend until the final whistle. A 3 – 2 win should see us top our pool prior to pool semi’s!

Player of the day: Katherine Keddell for her strong, controlled defence.
