Leading 1-0 until ten minutes to go, St Paul's looked like creating an upset for the top of the table, Tokoroa High School. Tokoroa fought back with only 10 minutes left, to level with a well structured goal. With the score 1-1 and only a minute left to play, a defensive lapse by St Paul's saw Tokoroa go ahead 2-1. It was an excellent exhibition of football by St Paul's, and a game which could easily have been won by either team.
