v Otorohanga
Mike Cotter Cup

Date: Saturday, 9 November 2013 at 10.30am
Venue: Otorohanga
Result: Won

St Paul's travelled to Otorohanga on Saturday and batted, first, on an outfield very heavy from mid week rain. In the first innings we struggled to gain momentum against a disciplined and accurate Otorohanga attack with Dillon Kelliher 21, Kippa Fawcett 12, Scott Finlayson 27, Chris Swanson 22, Aditya Sakalkale 15, Jacob Robb 11 and Simon Morbey 14 all getting starts but failing to bat through the innings. Coach Mark Bailey batting at no 7 top score with 36. St Paul's running between the wickets is still a work in progress with the backing up and desire to take the singles available needing to improve. St Paul's made 179 all out.

In reply apart from some early hitting, Otorohanga never threatened the St Paul's total in making 105. St Paul's were guilty of bowling 13 wides and no balls in only 27 overs, but the fielding was top notch. Guy Wilkins with 4 for 17 was outstanding and Simon Morbey 3 for 26 backed him up well. Aditya Sakalkale came up with the catch of the match to dismiss Waikato Valley captain Leighton Parsons for 22 which proved to be the match winning moment.
