Hockey - 1st XI Boys

v Kings College

Date: Thursday, 15 May 2014 at 4.15pm
Venue: King's College
Result: Lost
Score: 1-2

1st XI played at Kings College on a very wet hockey pitch. The playing conditions made it difficult initially with both sides making mistakes, especially in controlling and passing the ball. St Paul's came through the first half with more circle penetrations and goal opportunities. Half time score, nil all.

Early in the second half Kings dominated possession with improved accuracy of passing which provided an opportunity for Kings to score the first goal. St. Pauls lifted their intensity and were finally rewarded with a goal from Daniel Scanlon three minutes from the end. However, Kings bounced back to score 20 seconds from the end. Final score 1-2 loss to Kings College.

The result was not a true reflection of the game. The young St Paul's team had the better of the game but failed to convert scoring opportunities into goals. Hopefully the team will improve this part of the game over next couple of weeks.
