Cricket - Colts XI

v Hamilton Boys High School Bronze

Date: Saturday, 8 November 2014 at 10.00am
Venue: St Paul's Collegiate
Result: Lost

Playing on grass for the first time this season, St Paul’s won the toss and elected to ball. Jarred Mealings was outstanding only conceding 7 runs off his first 5 overs. HBHS were slow at first, but as the ball got older they accelerated their batting rate scoring a formidable 172 off 40 overs. Unfortunately good bowling and ground fielding was not support by the teams catching. Several drop catches really hurt the team badly. With the bat in hand the major difference between the 2 teams became apparent, HBHS took their catches and SPC found themselves 3 for 15 after 5 overs. Regular wickets hindered SPC progress, but George Fullerton-Smith (44 not out) along with Christian Neethling (17) and Harrison Phillips(17 not out) showed good courage, batting out the 40 overs and finishing only 27 short of HBHS’s total. Player of the day, George Fullerton-Smith
