Cricket - 1st XI

v Otorohanga College

Date: Saturday, 22 November 2014
Result: Won

St Pauls bowled first in cold, wet conditions with light rain falling. With the pace bowlers all having to bowl off short run ups it was difficult to contain the opposition. At 155 for 3 at the 2nd drinks break and having dropped several catches in the damp conditions St Pauls were looking down the barrel of a big score. However, Bede Higgens with 4 for 42 from 10, Alastair Blackett 3 for 27 from 7 and Simon Morbey 2 for 30 from 9 managed to turn things around to bowl Otorohanga out for 217.

Kippa Fawcett 42 and Dillon Kelliher 55 got St Pauls off to a great start with a 103 run opening stand but both fell within a few runs of each other meaning St Paul's had to rebuild. Swanson with 30 and Reuben Andrews who hit some beautiful shots in making 37 got St Pauls rolling again. However both again got out just as the finish line loomed and it was left to Tom Yarrall and Aubrey Fish to scramble the team home with 3 overs and 4 wickets to spare.
