Rugby - 1st XV

v Cambridge High School
Chiefs Cup

Date: Saturday, 9 May 2015
Venue: Cambridge High School
Result: Won
Score: 39-5

On Saturday the 1st XV travelled to Cambridge High School keen to put in a good performance against a team we haven't played for a number of years. The team knew that this would be a hard game against a team keen to prove they can foot it with the big boys. As predicted Cambridge dominated the start with St Paul's finding it difficult to win the ball. However the boys held their line and mid-way through the half began to dominate. This domination was rewarded with a penalty to Ferg Burke and a try to impressive lock Josh Balme. This proved to be a turning point in the game with the Cambridge defence beginning to open up. Tom Yarrell then scored the teams second try outpacing his opposite after some good phase play. With a 20-0 lead the boys entered the half time break full of confidence. In the second half it was more of the same with another try to Josh Balme, Samisoni Taukei'aho and Blake Wilson. The eventual score was a commanding 39-5 win to St. Paul's.

This was by far and away the teams best performance of the season and the boys should be proud of their efforts

This Saturday the team takes on Rotorua Boys in a virtual Semi-final with the winner qualifying for the final of the Chiefs Cup. Your support would be much appreciated.
