St Paul’s Collegiate School’s U14 team made a great start to the 2013 season defeating Hamilton Boys High School’s B team, 48-0.

Despite a number of basic mistakes, which is to be expected so early in the year, the boys played attractive running rugby. St Paul’s dominated much of the first half with tries to George Dyer, Jock Yarndley, and Hunter Johnson. They led at the break 19-0.

Although six changes were made at half time St Paul’s continued to attack at every opportunity and maintained their intensity and effort.

Tries were scored by Cam Smale (two), Ryan Ballantyne (two) and Fergus Burke who also kicked four conversions. The senior players led by example and impressed the coaches with their leadership.

Player of the Day: Fergus Burke and Jock Yarndley
