Playing into a head wind in the first half, St Paul’s started the game well, retaining possession and building a number of good phases. St Paul’s were eventually awarded with a penalty to Tyrell Martin.

Fielding made the most of their possession, mounting numerous attacks and were unlucky not score on two occasions, with St Paul’s defense scrambling well.

Fielding eventually kicked a penalty to make it 3 all. St Paul’s replied with two further penalties to lead 9-3 at half time.

Fielding started the second half with vigor, attacking well through their backs. They kicked another penalty to make the score 9-6.

Mid-way through the second half, Fielding had the momentum of the game and scored a good try from a well worked lineout drive. They converted the try to lead 13-9.

Tyrell kicked a further penalty to close the gap to 1 point. With 15 minutes left, St Paul’s forwards took charge close to the line and Gordon Fullerton scored an excellent rumbling try, which was calmly converted Tyrell. Fielding mounted numerous attacks but St Paul’s outstanding defense, held on to win 19-13.

The tough game secured a home semifinal and was just what the team needed before heading into the top of the table clash next week against Francis Douglas.
