St Paul’s Collegiate School is honoured to have been announced as the top team and individual fundraiser in Relay for Life, a programme run by the Cancer Society of New Zealand. The funds raised support cancer research, patient care, and education initiatives across the country.
Over the Relay for Life weekend, more than 120 St Paul’s students ran for 12 hours around The University of Waikato, showing incredible endurance and spirit. The team was led by Daniel Zhao (Year 13) and staff member Mrs Deborah Keep, whose motivation and positivity helped power the group through the event. Together, the school raised an outstanding $34,555.90.
Special recognition goes to Lani Jarrett (Year 12), who received the award for the highest individual fundraiser with a total of $7,487.38. Notable achievements on the track included Daniel Stokes (Year 11), who ran an impressive 84 km, and Deputy Head Girl Annie Stokes (Year 13), who completed 50 km.
We are incredibly proud of our community for rallying behind such an important cause. In New Zealand, one in three people will be affected by cancer, and the work of the Cancer Society is vital in supporting those impacted.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Heather Connolly and Van Kilburn from the Cancer Society for visiting our school to personally acknowledge and award our students and staff for their contributions.
