Drama and productions

St Paul’s Collegiate School students have the opportunity to express and up-skill their dramatic talents through both academic and extracurricular offerings.

In Year 9, all students are required to participate in drama as a compulsory subject and in Years 10-13, students have the option to choose drama as a subject in addition to the core curriculum. Every year St Paul’s aims to showcase a school production, with members of the public buying tickets to see the event. The show highlights the musical and acting talents of our students. Over the years some of the most memorable productions have been Grease, Les Misérables, Legally Blonde, Oklahoma, Jekyll and Hyde, and The Wizard of Oz.

Productions

Each year, St Paul’s Collegiate School students can participate in the school production either as a cast member, backstage crew member or musician. The type of production varies year-on-year and ranges from comedy-dramas to musical theatre.

Casting and preparation for the production take place during the first two terms of the school year with the show held over four or five nights during the last week of term. By participating in productions, students gain stage experience, increased confidence and learn to work with others as a team.

In recent years our students have presented:

  • Little Shop of Horrors (2013)
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (2014)
  • Brassed Off (2015)
  • Oklahoma (2016)
  • Jekyll & Hyde (2017)
  • Legally Blonde The Musical (2018)
