| Commerce Teacher (Economics - Accounting - Business Studies)

Located in St Paul's Collegiate School Hamilton

St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s premier independent day and boarding schools. With a growing roll of 880 students, we provide a learning environment that fosters academic excellence, character development, and meaningful contributions beyond our school gates.

This is an exciting time to join our school. From 2026, we will welcome our first cohort of junior girls (Year 9). In 2027 this group will progress into Year 10, resulting in a fully co-educational school offering from Year 9 to Year 13 for all students. In response to this growth, we are seeking a passionate, innovative, and knowledgeable teacher to join our Commerce Department, part of the wider Social Science Faculty. The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching a range of subjects, including Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Financial Management, and Enterprise. A strong commitment to fostering real-world application, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial thinking in aakonga is essential, along with the ability to contribute to a collaborative, future-focused team.

St Paul’s is well-resourced, with small class sizes and highly motivated, self-disciplined students. Staff enjoy a range of benefits, including daily cooked lunches, generous leave provisions, and a supportive, collegial environment. A competitive remuneration package is on offer, comprising the teacher salary scale plus a St Paul’s Allowance of $5,022 per annum. An annual bonus round also rewards staff involvement in our co-curricular programme and academic scholarship.

At St Paul’s, our vision is Cultivating Educated Contributors, and our mission is Inspiring Minds, Building Character, Shaping Futures. Alongside academic excellence, we are committed to being New Zealand’s premier boarding school, offering outstanding facilities, expert pastoral care, and diverse engagement opportunities for students. We are looking for staff who will embrace our vision and mission and work with us to achieve our strategic goals.

This permanent, full-time role will commence at the start of Term 1, 2026.

To support our pastoral networks as the school grows, we also have five Deputy Day Housemaster positions available (2.5 MMA and 2.5/25 period time release). These roles provide an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to student wellbeing and house culture, working alongside our established pastoral team. Applicants for the Commerce teaching role are warmly invited to express interest in one of these positions as part of their application.

An application pack with more information about the role and our school can be obtained by contacting Kathryn Conaghan, Head of HR via email: work@stpauls.school.nz
