St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s leading independent day and boarding schools. With a growing roll of 880 students, we are committed to providing a high quality education that fosters academic excellence, character development, and meaningful contribution beyond the school gates.
We are seeking a practical, proactive, and skilled Workshop Technician to support our Technology Department on a fixed term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands on work, takes pride in maintaining a well organised workshop environment, and values contributing to student learning.
The successful applicant will assist with the day to day operation of the workshop, including maintenance and repair of tools and equipment, preparing materials for classes, constructing jigs and learning resources, and sourcing or collecting supplies as required. You will play an important role in supporting both staff and students within a busy and engaging learning environment.
This is a fixed term, part time position commencing 22 June 2026 for approximately nine weeks, providing cover for our current Technician’s extended leave. The role is worked during school term time, totalling approximately 8 hours per week, with occasional additional holiday hours as required. We are flexible regarding the day worked.
Our ideal candidate will have strong practical engineering and woodworking skills, confidence operating and maintaining machinery, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. You will be self-motivated, reliable, and able to identify opportunities to improve workshop systems and resources.
St Paul’s is exceptionally well resourced and offers a supportive, collegial environment where staff are valued and encouraged to contribute to the wider life of the school. Staff benefits include daily cooked lunches and access to a positive and well supported workplace culture.
