St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s premier independent day and boarding schools. With a growing roll of 880 students, we provide a learning environment that fosters academic excellence, character development, and meaningful contributions beyond our school gates.
This is an exciting time to join our school. At the start of this year, we welcomed our first cohort of junior girls (Year 9). In 2027 this group will progress into Year 10, resulting in a fully co-educational school offering from Year 9 to Year 13 for all students. In response to this growth, we are seeking a motivated and skilled English teacher to join our committed and well-established English Department.
The successful candidate will need experience teaching the Year 9 – Year 13 English curriculum. We’re looking for someone who has a solution-focused approach to education, places aakonga at the centre of their pedagogy, seeks excellence in their practice, and has a commitment to and understanding of mana oorite moo te maatauranga maaori.
St Paul’s is well-resourced, has small class sizes, and has very motivated and self-disciplined students. Staff enjoy benefits including daily cooked lunches, generous leave provisions, and a supportive and collegial environment. A competitive remuneration package is on offer, including teacher salary scale plus a St Paul’s Allowance of $5,320 per annum. There is also an annual bonus round that rewards staff for their involvement in our co-curricular programme and academic scholarship.
At St Paul’s, our vision is Cultivating Educated Contributors, and our mission is Inspiring Minds, Building Character, Shaping Futures. Alongside academic excellence, we are dedicated to being New Zealand’s premier boarding school, offering outstanding facilities, expert pastoral care, and diverse engagement opportunities for students. We want staff who will commit to our vision and mission and who will work with us in achieving our strategic goals.
This is a permanent, full-time role with a negotiable start date. We are also seeking a part-time or full-time fixed-term English teacher to cover parental leave for the remainder of the 2026 school year.
