From 4-9 April, four St Paul’s swimmers took on the 2022 New Zealand Swimming Championships at the Sir Owen G Glenn National Aquatic Centre in Auckland.

  • Laura Littlejohn (Year 13) has been named the fastest female sprinter in New Zealand after winning the 50m and 100m freestyle swims. Her 100m freestyle swim also broke the national age group record for 17 year old girls and a Waikato open record. She also placed second in the 50m butterfly race and fourth in the 200m freestyle swim, and both swims broke Waikato open record times. At the end of the swim meet, Laura was awarded the Norma Williams MBE Emerging Swimmer of the Year by New Zealand Swimming Alumni and the Don Stanley $2000 scholarship to assist with swimming expenses.

  • Boston Tordoff (Year 12) finished 11th in the 50m breaststroke and 13th in the mens' 100m breaststroke.

  • Ben Haskell (Year 13) finished 16th in the mens' 200m backstroke.

  • As her debut at the New Zealand open swim champs, Sophie Perry (Year 12) finished 19th in the womens' 50m freestyle.

Well done to these four competing on the national stage! 💛🐝
