Netballer, Grace Namana, selected for New Zealand Secondary Schools team

6 June 2013

Grace Namana, St Paul’s Collegiate School Year 13 student, recently put her Aotearoa Maori netball bib away for an opportunity to play for the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ netball team.

Grace received a call from NZ Secondary Schools’ coach, Marianne Delaney, to say she had been selected for the team. She has since played with the team against NZ Area Schools in Rotorua.

When asked about the game Grace said she was nervous in the first instance but soon gained confidence when she realised she was playing with “amazing girls.”

Her nerves definitely didn’t get the better of her with Grace missing only two of 16 shots in the second and third quarters. NZ Secondary Schools took out the win 68-8.

This afternoon Acting Headmaster, Peter Hampton, presented Grace with a Winners Medal for the Trans Tasman Secondary School Netball Challenge which was held in Rotorua from 24 to 30 May.
