Kate Littlejohn (Year 12) has been selected for the Aotearoa Maori Secondary Schools netball team that will compete in the 2016 International Schoolgirls Netball Challenge in May.

“To be selected feels awesome, it’s a huge privilege and I'm excited to play in the tournament with such a great group of girls,” said Kate.

The tournament, held in Auckland, will feature teams from Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Africa and the Pacific Nations.

Kate, who has been playing netball since she was eight-years-old, was selected for the team after a two-day trial consisting of skill sessions and trial games.

“The whole process was intense to go through but at the same time very enjoyable. It was a real learning curve in terms of how to trial well and I was able to take away some new skills.”

Kate will have one training camp with the team before competing in the upcoming tournament.
