Four St Paul’s rugby players have been selected for the New Zealand Schools development camp.

George Dyer, Sam Cooper, Fergus Burke and Luke Donaldson (Year 13) were selected to attend the 2017 development camp alongside 45 other young athletes from across New Zealand.

The three-day camp takes place this month and the players will be vying for places in the New Zealand Schools and New Zealand Barbarians Schools teams.

New Zealand Schools coach Jason Holland congratulated all players selected and commented on a strong school rugby season.

“The standard of schools’ rugby this season has been outstanding and we have strength and depth in most positions,” he said.

"Both the New Zealand Schools and the Barbarians Schools teams will be looking to play an attacking style of rugby and we are confident this group has the skill sets to help us do this,” said Holland.

For first five-eight player Fergus, this is an exciting opportunity. “It’s always been a goal of mine to make the national schools team, hopefully I can make it,” says Fergus.

The players will assemble for the camp on Friday 22 September, with teams announced on the Sunday in preparation for the first match on September 28.
