Three students selected for NZ squash

2 November 2016

Three St Paul’s students have been selected for New Zealand development squash squads following a successful year in their age groups.

Lwamba Chileshe (Year 12) has been selected for Squash New Zealand’s new initiative, which focuses on developing promising players for the World Junior Championships in Tauranga next year.

He will attend six training camps in Auckland over the summer break with the aim of being selected as a New Zealand representative for the tournament.

Meanwhile younger brother, Temwa Chileshe (Year 11) and fellow student, Sean Dykes (Year 12), have both been selected for the New Zealand Elite Junior Squad and hope to compete in the NZ Elite Juniors in 2018.

The boys’ achievements are a result of daily fitness, technical training and great results throughout the 2016 squash season.

All three boys recently competed in the St Paul’s boys’ squash team that placed runners-up at the New Zealand secondary schools championships.
