Contacts for concerns or complaints

Should a parent or guardian have any concerns or complaints it is encouraged that the follow the protocol outlined below so the issue can be dealt with appropriately. Please note that due to the complex nature of some issues and the need to undertake a full and balanced investigation, it is not always possible to resolve matters immediately.

Where a parent or guardian feels that a complaint has not been dealt with adequately after following the protocols outlined below it is advised that they take the matter further by contacting the Headmaster in the case of a complaint involving a student or the Chairman of the Board in the case of a complaint against a member of staff.

Concerns about a student

Parents of guardians should contact the student’s housemaster in the first instance with concerns about a student’s academic progress, sports participation or physical and social wellbeing within the school. The student’s housemaster may consult with the following people for assistance:

  • Curriculum (academic) matters – Deputy Headmaster (Academic) Jeremy Coley
  • Pastoral care (physical and social wellbeing) – Deputy Headmaster (Pastoral Care) Theresa Miller
  • Extracurricular (sport and cultural) matters – Director of Extracurricular Activities (DECA) Josh Hay

Complaints or serious concerns and immediate risks

Any member of the school community who has a serious concern (such as bullying), immediate risk or where a concern has not been resolved in the first instance may lay a complaint. In order to facilitate investigation, a complaint must be made in writing as soon as possible after the event to which the complaint refers. All complaints will be treated seriously, dealt with promptly and responded to appropriately.
