Kaipaki and St Paul’s Collegiate School firmed as favourites for the final of Waikato Valley’s Mike Cotter Cup one-day club competition after again posting wins on Saturday.

While St Paul’s gained their six competition points without breaking a sweat thanks to Te Aroha’s default, Kaipaki maintained their winning run by chasing down Te Awamutu’s 247 by five wickets at the Kaipaki Oval.

The visitors made a decent total, thanks to 120 from Zak Gibson.

But after taking 4-50, Kaipaki’s Tim Raglan made 92 to lead his side to 249-5 and their fifth win from as many games.

Cambridge and Hinuera posted wins to reach 18 competition points.

Cambridge demolished Waikare by 272 runs at the Te Kauwhata Domain.The visitors were led by Keith Vincent’s 143, with Vern Woodhams (69) and Ben Stinson (53) contributing.

Brad Edmondson then collected 4-34 to bundle the home side out for 115.

At Matamata’s Pohlen Park, Hinuera scraped home in the last over by one wicket against Otorohanga.

Batting first, the visitors made 222, Ted Haggas top scoring with 50, while Alan Tappin took 3-33 for Hinuera.

Tappin then scored 56 with the bat, while Richard O'Shaughnessy finished unbeaten on 35 to guide his team home.
