Mountain biking

St Paul’s Collegiate School offers mountain biking as a summer sport.  The programme is designed to provide regular, safe riding opportunities and participation in local events.  Students must supply their own mountain bike in good working order, a helmet and a drink bottle.  Riders are expected to attend scheduled sessions consistently.  The focus of the programme is participation and enjoyment of the sport, while building confidence and skills through regular riding.  Spaces are limited and competence is required to be selected.

Schedule

Tuesdays and Thursdays

Students ride locally from school between 3.45 pm and 5.15 pm (approximately).  Transport is provided to Pukete Mountain Bike Park.  Sessions focus on cross-country riding appropriate to the group’s ability level and are conducted within safe supervision ratios and time constraints.

Competition

Students have the opportunity to enter Waikato, North Island and National level mountain biking events, including the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Championships.

The school will support students with event entry and coordination. However, these events are typically held outside of normal school sessions, and parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their children at competitions unless otherwise advised.

Entry fees and associated costs will be charged to student accounts where applicable.

Levies

The levy for Mountain Biking is $20. Additional transport and competition entry costs are disbursed to student accounts as required.
