St Paul’s Collegiate School offers water polo as a summer sport to male and female students at all year levels, Junior Boys, Senior Boys, Mixed and Girls teams. The programme welcomes all students, regardless of previous experience, though confidence in the water and strong swimming ability is essential.
Schedule
- Senior and Junior students play in the Term 1 Waikato Competition.
- Senior students and experienced water polo players attend the NISS and NZSS tournaments.
- Year 9’s and 10’s play in the Waikato Junior Water Polo Competition in Term 4 (November).
- Year 9’s and 10’s play in the North Island Cup Competition in Term 4 (November)
Students train three to four times per week. There are three swim trainings per week at the St Paul’s swimming pool and one training at Water World. St Paul’s competes in local competitions (Waikato Secondary School’s Competition) organised by Waikato Water Polo, held on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings and also in the North Island and New Zealand Secondary Schools tournaments.
Training for Term One is as follows:
- Monday, 6 am skills training at Waterworld
- Tuesday, 6 am swim training at St Paul’s Pool
- Tuesday, 7.15 pm swim training at St Paul’s Pool
- Wednesday, 4 pm skills training at Waterworld
- Thursday, 6 am swim training at St Paul’s Pool
Levies
The levy for Water Polo is $130 per student.
